Making Mayan Temples

In IPC the children have been very excited about planning and starting to build their Mayan temples. We discussed the planning stage in detail, considering the design of our models and the materials which we would need to use. We then talked about the importance of planning prior to beginning a task and went on to create our carefully thought out step-by-step plans. The next stage involved gathering our materials and beginning to build. This task has required us to...

UN Day

Today’s UN Day celebrations have been absolutely fantastic. It was incredible to see the huge number of nationalities represented in our school during the parade. We learnt a great deal about refugees from our UN representative guest speakers this morning. We also enjoyed rotating around a carousel of internationally themed activities ranging from traditional Ugandan story-telling to painting in the style of the Spanish artist Miro, New Zealand Maori stick games and an atlas and country quiz. We all very...

Future Ambrosoli Day

On Wednesday for our ‘Future Ambrosoli’ Open Day the children were set the challenge of generating ideas for the future of Ambrosoli. They considered which subjects should be taught, how they would be delivered and what the learning environment would consist of.  The children were asked to consider the 4 C’s – collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity – and how these would be encouraged and promoted in their plans. Year 5 Entry Point – AD 900

Year 5 had an exciting day on Monday for our Entry Point to our new IPC unit AD 900.  We explored lots of traditional Ugandan activities, including making footballs and dolls with banana fibre, playing traditional games, doing Ugandan dances and listening to  a super story-telling session.  These activities awakened our interest  and prompted us to consider how things might have been different in the past. We used our PLGs in a range of ways throughout the day, being resilient...

By collaborating well, they have successfully made super models and are very proud of their finished products! ...
