The Learning support department works with students who might or require additional support (SEN) and/or English is an additional language (EAL).
All children can access learning support from Early Years (Sunflowers and Reception) through Key Stage 1 and 2. This is in collaboration with the class teachers, Learning assistants as well as external expertise where required. The department further works hand in hand with parents in the process of identification, target setting and reviewing of targets.
Intervention can further be extended to meet additional needs in English and Maths. Facilitation can be carried out within class or through withdrawal from class – based on the extent of need.
The department’s mandate is to ensure that all children, especially those that are limited by neurological factors or language (English), have equal opportunities to access their learning in an environment that is enabling for them. Our learning support can only cater for mild specific learning needs.
